Police were called to investigate reports of a white man about 35 years old trying to break into cars and houses in the area, police said. Several people were restraining the man when police arrived. The two responding officers called for an ambulance before arriving on the scene because of the dispatcher's description of the man's condition. The officers handcuffed the man and were walking him to the patrol car when the man died.
