A other with two men, a woman and a 2-year-old child went into the Coosa River from the boat ramp at Gold Star Park following a high-speed chase by Alabama Department of Corrections law enforcement officers. The driver, Quendarrius Cummings of Montgomery, AL, drowned. The child and other two passengers were rescued by bystanders. The two surviving adults, Rufus Brown and Jonisha Jordan, were charged with drug smuggling.
