Troopers were called to assist the Custer County Sheriff's Office with a standoff situation at 6:16 a.m. Print Zutavern was reported suicidal, earlier in the day, he threatened his father with a firearm and shot and killed multiple animals. About 6:11 p.m., Zutavern tried to leave the property by driving a UTV. He was blocked by troopers, who ordered Zutavern to put his hands up. The unarmed Zutavern moved aggressively toward a trooper who shot and killed him. A shotgun was found on the UTV.
