Deadly force

According to police, Donald Moore and Jason Lavastida, Silvas was told to step out of his teal Ford Taurus because it smelled like marijuana, then was shot at eight times when he tried to ram officers with the other. According to witnesses, Silvas was shot, bludgeoned and handcuffed, then tried to take cover in the Taurus. Cocaine, not marijuana, was present in the other. Officer Moore had served for four years and Officer Lavastida for three. It was their first recorded shooting. Corpus Christi paid settled with Silvas' family for $200,000.
