Officers responded to a report of gunshots around 5 p.m. at an apartment complex. Patrick Alden allegedly shot at arriving officers with a rifle from the second floor. Officers entered the building and climbed to the second floor, where they met the alleged rifleman on the stairwell. RCPD officer Garrett Mastin shot and killed Alden.
