Police responding to an early-morning domestic disturbance call also heard multiple reports of a man firing on passing vehicles. This was Fischer, who indeed had shot passing motorists although with no life-threatening injuries. He refused to drop his shotgun when police arrived and told him to. He was fatally shot.
