The invasion began when undercover Israeli officers infiltrated the camp in a civilian vehicle with Palestinian license plates. Their presence was soon discovered by residents, leading to the arrival of dozens of armored Israeli military vehicles, which triggered widespread protests.
As the confrontation escalated, Israeli soldiers fired live ammunition, rubber-coated steel bullets, gas bombs, and concussion grenades. Omar was fatally shot in the chest with live rounds. The Palestinian Health Ministry confirmed his death and reported that six others were wounded by live fire and transported to nearby hospitals for treatment.

In addition to the killing and injuries, Israeli forces stormed numerous homes in the camp, conducting violent searches and abducting three Palestinians, including Omar’s brother, Yazan Fararja (24), and two other brothers, Odai Essam Abu Nassar (24) and Mu’ath Abu Nassar (27).

Thousands of Palestinians participated in Omar’s funeral procession, which began in Deheishe and proceeded to the Shuhada Graveyard in Artas village. Omar was known as a former political prisoner who had been detained by Israeli authorities several times, including under Administrative Detention—a policy allowing imprisonment without charge or trial.

His death marks another tragic chapter in the ongoing Israeli military operations in the West Bank, particularly in refugee camps like Deheishe, which have long been focal points of resistance and suffering under occupation.
