Their life

Nour al-Huda al-Madhoun was a Palestinian pharmacist and humanitarian worker who was killed alongside her husband, journalist Ahmed al-Zinati, and their infant son, Khaled, during an Israeli airstrike on the night of May 18–19, 2024. The attack targeted their tent in the Sanabel camp near the Kuwaiti Field Hospital west of Khan Younis, Gaza.

Nour was known for her dedication to healthcare and humanitarian efforts in Gaza. Her commitment to serving her community as a pharmacist was evident in her daily work, providing essential medical care amid challenging circumstances. Her untimely death, along with her family, underscores the profound loss experienced by the community she served.

Her husband, Ahmed al-Zinati, was a respected journalist who documented the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. The couple's shared commitment to their professions highlighted their dedication to both healing and informing their community.

How they died

Killed by Israeli airstrike

Nour al-Madhoun, a Palestinian woman, was killed alongside her husband, journalist Ahmed al-Zinati, and their two young sons, Mohammed and Khaled, when an Israeli airstrike struck their displacement tent in Al-Mawasi, west of Khan Younis, on the night of May 18–19, 2024.

Al-Mawasi had been designated a "safe zone" by Israeli authorities, leading many displaced families, including the al-Zinati family, to seek refuge there. Despite this designation, the area was targeted, resulting in the deaths of the family.

The airstrike not only claimed the lives of Nour and her immediate family but also underscored the broader risks faced by civilians and journalists in Gaza. The Palestinian Journalists Syndicate has condemned such attacks, viewing them as part of a systematic targeting of Palestinian journalism.
