A Snohomish County sheriff's deputy had been called to a disturbance around 10:15 p.m. in a nearby neighborhood. Moments later, the deputy radioed that he was following a pickup as it drove wildly on Filbert Road. At the end of the pursuit, Nickolas Peters was shot and killed. Details as to what led up to the shooting where withheld by police. Update January 2020: Deputy Art Wallin was fired and the family was awarded $1 million.
