At Rest

Less-than-lethal force
Gilbert was arrested for warrants and place in a holding cell, where he allegedly tried to hang himself with his sweat pants. In trying to prevent the suicide, officers struggled with him, and he hit his head on a concrete bed and died later. Media reports don't state categorically whether he was booked, so this incident may be outside of FatalEncounters dataset, which does not include individuals after they've been booked into the jail or prison system.
This record exists so that Nicholas Gilbert, and all who are named in this archive, are never reduced to a number.
