Nathan Gillard didn't realize that the Village Pantry at 9th and Chestnut was under police surveillance when he went in to rob it. Gillard backed down the street at a high rate of speed, then stopped when he slammed into a parked car. Two officers confronted Gillard. Officer Richard Kenney and one or two other officers fired at Gillard after he brandished an air pistol.
