Less-than-lethal force

Police were called by the Cosumnes Fire Department around 1 p.m. Arriving officers found fire personnel with a man who was acting erratically next to other stopped in the roadway. Police said efforts to detain the man eventually led to resistance and to a struggle between him and officers. Officers restrained the man with handcuffs. Police said the man intentionally hit his head on the concrete, while he was handcuffed and seated. He was taken to the hospital, where around 2:45 p.m., he died.
