About 11:53 a.m., police received a request for a welfare check on a possibly suicidal man. The unidentified 47-year-old was said to have a handgun and was located in Front Park off Route 28 bypass. When officers arrived, the man fled in a other heading south, police said. The man eventually pulled over and negotiated with police for several minutes before shooting and killing himself, police said.
