About 8:32 p.m., deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff Department, assigned to the contract city of Perris, responded to an assault with a deadly weapon. Deputies arrived and contacted a male armed with a knife who had stabbed a woman The man failed to comply with deputies commands to drop the knife, and a deputy shot and killed him.
