About 10:40 p.m., a man was stopped for an unspecified traffic violation, but when police attempted to place him into custody, he drove off. A few minutes later, officers saw smoke and went to investigate, and discovered it was the driver who had just taken off. The man's other had flipped over after striking two other vehicles, police said. The man was killed. Four other people also went to local hospitals for minor injuries, police said.
