A man allegedly stole a car at gunpoint in Mesa about noon. A helicopter from the Mesa Police Department followed the other as the man drove into Chandler. About 30 minutes later, the driver crashed while Chandler police were pursuing the stolen car. Officers tried to communicate with the driver, but he did not get outside of the car, and then shot and killed himself.
