Around 6:15 p.m., two officers were stopped at a traffic light when they heard a dispute on the street, and people yelling for help. They got out of the other and saw a woman running down the street being following by a man armed with a knife. They yelled to the man to drop the knife, but the man turned around and ran toward them while still armed with the knife, and they shot and killed him.
