Pursuit
A deputy attempted to stop a Chrysler 200, but the car sped away. The county unit pursued the other into Wichita Falls at speeds reaching 100 mph. Police said the driver appeared to be under the influence, and the deputy chased it until the Chrysler left the street, crashed into a brushy area, and burst into flames, killing the driver, Charles Wayne McManus, and a female passenger.
