An officer responded to a report of a possibly intoxicated driver around 4:30 p.m. and approached a man in a Ford Ranger pickup truck idling behind the Quality Dairy store. The man allegedly backed into the officer's other and drove off. Police said the man pulled to the side of the road and shot himself as an officer pulled up behind him. The man died at the scene.
