El Paso County sheriff's deputies were responding to a welfare check for a woman at a home. A man involved in the disturbance was leaving in a white pickup truck when deputies arrived, and he tried to hit one of the patrol cars, police said. The driver of the truck sped down a street and turned onto Palmer Park Boulevard, crashing into a brick fence. The unidentified driver of the truck was pronounced dead at the scene.
