Na’ama Mohammad Abu Qayda
Israeli missile strike (Hellfire) to civilian car – instant traumatic dismemberment and burns.
Na’ama Mohammad Abu Qayda’s death resulted from a targeted Israeli missile strike on her civilian vehicle, employing lethal mechanisms characteristic of urban warfare in Gaza. The attack displayed hallmarks of deliberate precision rather than collateral damage, given the absence of military targets in the vicinity.
Biography
Na’ama Mohammad Abu Qayda, a 62-year-old Palestinian grandmother, was killed by an Israeli missile strike on her civilian car in Beit Hanoun, northern Gaza, on August 6, 2022. She was en route to her son’s wedding when the attack turned a day of celebration into tragedy.
Na’ama Mohammad Abu Qayda lived her entire life under Gaza’s blockade, raising children and grandchildren in the shadow of recurring wars. On what should have been one of her happiest days—her son’s wedding—she became another victim of Israel’s indiscriminate violence. As she traveled through Um an-Nasr village, an Israeli missile obliterated her car, killing her instantly and wounding multiple passengers. The strike, part of Israel’s Operation "Breaking Dawn," exemplified the brutal reality for Gaza’s civilians: no occasion, no matter how personal, is spared from destruction.
Na’ama’s death was not isolated. That same weekend, Israeli attacks killed 24 Palestinians, including six children, and wounded 203—most of them non-combatants. Her story mirrors countless others in Gaza, where families bury loved ones instead of celebrating milestones.
