She attended school like hundreds of other children in her community and was among the youngest students enrolled. On the morning of 28 February 2026, while classes were underway, missiles struck the school compound during a military attack. The building collapsed and many children were killed. Mohanna became one of the victims of the strike, and her name became known when her father reportedly held up her exercise book, found in the rubble, bearing her name.
Mohanna Zari was a primary school student from Minab, a city in southern Iran.
