Mohammed Samir Washah was a Palestinian journalist and cameraman who worked for the news network Al Jazeera Media Network. Born in 1986 in Al-Bureij Refugee Camp, he initially studied Medical Laboratory Analysis before pursuing a journalism career in 2006. Over the years, he worked for Al-Aqsa TV, later served as a journalist for TRT World, and joined Al Jazeera in 2018. He became known for his coverage of events in Gaza and was among numerous journalists killed during the Gaza conflict.
Mohammed Samir Washah was born in 1986 in Al-Bureij Refugee Camp in the Gaza Strip. Although he studied Medical Laboratory Analysis at university, he chose to pursue journalism and entered the media field in 2006 through Al-Aqsa TV. His work gradually expanded beyond local media, and between 2010 and 2014 he worked with TRT World. In 2018 he joined Al Jazeera, where he worked as a journalist and cameraman covering developments in Gaza and the broader Palestinian territories.
During the Gaza war, Washah became the subject of controversy after Israeli military officials alleged that documents recovered in Gaza linked him to Hamas military activities. The claims were publicly rejected by both Hamas and Al Jazeera. On 8 April 2026, he was killed in an Israeli drone strike targeting the vehicle in which he was traveling.
