Biography
Mohammad Ahmad Musbah Ikki, 40, was a Palestinian resident of Gaza City. He lived with his family in the al-Rimal neighborhood, an area that came under some of the heaviest bombardments during the May 2021 Israeli assault on Gaza. Like thousands of others in Gaza, Mohammad faced the daily challenges of life under blockade, enduring shortages of electricity, basic necessities, and safety. He was among the dozens of civilians killed during the devastating airstrikes on al-Wehda Street, which became one of the deadliest nights of the war.
Mohammad was part of a large and close-knit community in Gaza. The al-Rimal neighborhood, where he lived, was a busy and vibrant area, home to families, small shops, and essential services. Despite the hardships caused by the ongoing blockade, residents like Mohammad strived to provide for their families and hold on to a sense of normal life. On the night of May 16, 2021, Israeli warplanes launched an intense series of airstrikes on residential buildings in al-Wehda Street, without warning. The strikes destroyed multiple apartment buildings and homes, including the one where Mohammad was staying, leading to his death alongside many neighbors and relatives of the Abu al-Ouf and al-Qulaq families.
