The involved state trooper was fired, but otherwise unpunished, for a high-speed other collision on a county road at one minute after midnight. The crash killed Campbell. The trooper's marked Ford CV veered into the oncoming lane. Correcting, the trooper lost control and struck Campbell's Mitsubishi head on.
