According to police, Seth Steele, 18, who was driving a 2004 Ford Mustang, led a DeSoto Parish Sheriff's deputy on a high-speed chase after the deputy tried to pull Steele over for speeding. This happened shortly before 2 a.m. During the chase, Steele failed to negotiate a curve, left the roadway and hit several trees before the car flipped. Michael Joseph McDowell, who was a passenger in the Mustang, was killed. Steele was charged with driving under suspension, speeding, resisting an officer by flight and expired license plate.
