According to St. Paul police, an officer on patrol spotted a motorcyclist driving recklessly on Maryland Avenue. The officer activated his emergency lights, but the motorcycle sped away. Officers searched the area and found the motorcycle had crashed at Case and Clark. Hagemann had been thrown from the bike and was pronounced dead at the scene.
