Mashantucket Pequot Tribal police officers attempted to serve Goodale an active arrest warrant inside the Fox Tower parking garage. However, as they were trying to take him in to custody, Goodale reportedly pointed a firearm at them. Mashantucket police ordered him to drop his weapon, but he did not comply. At least one Mashantucket officer shot at him. Goodale then fell from the fourth level of the Fox Tower parking garage, onto a paved driveway below.
