Torrance police tried to stop a suspected DUI driver, Michael Lopez, along Pacific Coast Highway and Hawthorne Boulevard, police said. Police halted the other with a PIT maneuver. Lopez then reached beneath the other seat and started to drive away when he was shot and killed.
