Police responded at 1:43 p.m. to a 911 call reporting a robbery at Indulge!, a candy store. Officers arrived to find Michael Conlon with a knife. Newton officers fired a beanbag shotgun and State Police used a Taser in an effort to incapacitate Conlon. Two Newton officers shot and killed Conlon.
