During a traffic stop, a constable heard gunshots coming from Asher's camper. He called state police, who investigated. Given his phone number, troopers tried and failed to contact Asher. Around 9:30 p.m., Asher exited his camper, pointing a gun in the direction of a trooper, who fatally shot him.
