A Seward Police officer, Matthew Armstrong, pulled over a car driven by Micah McComas. McComas was handcuffed and placed in the rear seat of the police other, but managed to get in the front seat. According to police, he attempted to drive away, the other struck the officer, who shot and killed him. Police alleged vehicular assault.
