Mehdi Ghorbandoust was a Kurdish resident killed during protests in Chenaran, Razavi Khorasan Province. He was one of at least five individuals shot by government forces on the evening of January 7, 2026. Unlike some of the other victims who died immediately, he succumbed to his injuries the following day.

Mehdi Ghorbandoust was a Kurdish resident who lost his life during popular protests in Chenaran, Razavi Khorasan Province. He was critically wounded by direct gunfire from Iranian government forces on the evening of Wednesday, January 7, 2026, during demonstrations in the city. Unlike some other victims who died immediately, Ghorbandoust was transferred to a hospital in a coma and placed in intensive care. Despite medical efforts to save him, he succumbed to his injuries and died on Thursday, January 8, 2026. He was one of at least five Kurdish protesters killed by security forces in Chenaran during the same incident.
