Matthew Tasley was breaking the window of car with a crowbar just as California Highway Patrol pulled up on an unrelated call. Tasley fled in his truck. The CHP chased him past the Bon Air Shopping Center, he was struck by a other making a left turn to Sir Francis Drake Boulevard. Tasley smashed into a utility pole and other street fixtures near the Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage office and was killed.
