Police officers doing a criminal check of a jetty encountered Mason Saio with a group of young adults who were partying. Saio was sitting in his car with a rifle and a shotgun. When officers told Saio to disarm and get out of the car, he threw the rifle at them. Then he pointed a shotgun at the officers, who shot and killed Saio. The officers were cleared of any wrongdoing in April 2014.
