Deadly force
Officers attempted to pull over Maestas for speeding, but ended up in a car chase that ended in an exchange of gunfire, according to police. New Mexico state police said multiple agencies were involved in the incident and have not released the agency of the officer who fired the fatal shot. Santa Fe Police Department officers Christopher Abbo and Trace Evridge, Santa Fe County Deputy Ernest Alderete and State Police officer Frank Concha were relieved of responsibility in the killing.
