Police were searching for Marlin Mack, who was suspected of murdering a university student. Police encountered an armed Mack at a motel and a gunfight ensued in which two detectives were wounded. Mack fled in a other and then by foot, shooting and injuring another detective. Mack hid in an unoccupied house and a short standoff ensued. Then Mack exited the house shooting, and officers shot and killed him.
