In masks Yoachum and an accomplice robbed a dollar store at gunpoint. Yoachum then stole a car from the parking lot and led police on a half-hour other chase, then a foot chase that ended in a ditch near an elementary school. Yoachum shot and killed a police dog sent to find him, and he was fatally shot in return.
