Deadly force
Police shot Mark Jones after he reportedly wounded officer Shawn Barnes as police served a search warrant. According to police, Jones was on probation for a federal weapons charge and wasn't supposed to have guns, but they had information that he was armed. Officers with the Mobile Reserve unit approached the house at about 11:25 p.m. Jones allegedly fired a shot from inside through a door, hitting Barnes in the arm. The officers then shot Jones 11 times, and he was pronounced dead at a hospital.
