Deadly force
Mark Edward Danley allegedly robbed a business in Weston at approximately 10 a.m. Officers pursued on U.S. Rt. 19 into Jane Lew, during which time Danley rammed an officer's police cruiser. Troopers with the West Virginia State Police, deputies with the Lewis County Sheriff's Office and Division of Natural Resources officers joined the pursuit. The chase continued through Jane Lew before stop sticks disabled the other and Danley fled on foot. He ran into a residence's backyard and attempted to take a man hostage, however, the man was able to push him to the ground. Upon hitting the ground, Danley reportedly attempted to stand up and shoot deputies, but deputies shot and killed him before he shot.
