Butte County Sheriff's Office deputies arrived at a residence to serve a felony arrest warrant, charging 56-year-old Mark Aaron Jensen with threatening officers, police said. Police approached the residence in an armored other and tried to establish communication with Jensen over a loudspeaker. Jensen came out of the residence, armed with a handgun, and walked into the middle of the roadway. He pointed it at deputies, and "due to fear for his safety and the safety of other deputies," Deputy Matt Calkins shot and killed Jensen.
