According to police, a sergeant was traveling west on Sibley with his lights and siren activated when a Plymouth minivan heading south on Cooper pulled into the intersection. Mamie Burrell, a passenger in the minivan, was pronounced dead at a hospital. Police said they believed Burrell's husband, who was driving the van did not hear or see the squad car.
