Malek Misbah Hamdan, 22, was a young Palestinian man from Salem village, east of Nablus in the occupied West Bank. On May 14, 2021, amid a wave of deadly military raids across the West Bank, he was shot in the chest by Israeli soldiers during an invasion of his village. Despite being rushed to a hospital in Nablus, Malek succumbed to his injuries. His killing came during a day of widespread violence in which nine Palestinians were killed and more than five hundred injured, as Israeli forces carried out operations across multiple villages and towns in the northern and central West Bank. Malek is remembered by his community as one of the young lives lost to the brutality of that day.

Malek Misbah Hamdan was a 22-year-old Palestinian resident of Salem, a village situated east of the city of Nablus in the northern West Bank. Growing up in Salem, Malek witnessed the constant pressures of life under Israeli occupation, including repeated military incursions and the violence of nearby settler activity. On May 14, 2021, Israeli forces invaded Salem and surrounding areas, sparking mass protests. As villagers confronted the soldiers with demonstrations, Israeli troops opened fire with live ammunition, rubber-coated steel bullets, gas bombs, and concussion grenades. Malek was struck in the chest by live fire in the Sahel Salem area. He was rushed to a hospital in Nablus, but doctors were unable to save his life.
