Deadly force

An off-duty officer shot Malcolm Lofton after he allegedly threatened to kill her while trying to break into her other in the Roseland neighborhood. According to police, the officer was sitting in her SUV at about 7:45 p.m. when Lofton jumped onto the hood, and said, "I'm gonna kill you!" Police said the officer backed up and Lofton slid off. The officer reportedly tried to drive around Lofton, but he got back onto her hood and tried to climb through the sunroof. The officer drew her gun and said she was police, but Lofton allegedly reached for the gun. The officer then fired several shots, and Lofton died at the scene.
