Major Baldwin was detained by an off-duty Floresville officer who was working security at an H-E-B around 2:30 p.m. The off-duty officer called police. A San Antonio officer and the off-duty officer walked the man to the patrol unit in the H-E-B parking lot. Baldwin was allowed to search in his backpack and stabbed the officer in the face with a knife. The on-duty and off-duty officers shot and killed Baldwin.
