Cobb police first responded to a home about 3:30 p.m. after receiving a report of a domestic dispute. A man at the home, Luis Rey Ruiz, pulled out a gun and started shooting. The officer was wearing a bulletproof vest when he was shot in the chest. Ruiz was shot as he ran away. Police located Ruiz about 6:40 p.m., he reportedly shot at officers again. Several officers shot and killed him. A firearm reportedly was found next to his body.
