Lucas DeFord was shot following a car chase. Just before 1 a.m., Deputy Justin Wathke responded to a reported disorderly conduct matter that involved a restraining order injunction between two people. The deputy saw the car moving and chased it. Police alleged that DeFord brandished a handgun.
