Cryer, a Hurricane Katrina refugee, reportedly broke into the house of an elderly woman and ranted that someone was out to get him. Officers responded. Cryer and the officers fought. An officer shot Cryer with a stun gun. Cryer died of cardiac arrest. William Petty, also a Katrina refugee, was killed in Houston in 2006.
