Deadly force
Deputies received multiple calls on a stolen purple Explorer, driven by Loren Simpson. Two deputies pursued him and paused at the head of a dead-end road, where they knew he would have to exit. Simpson drove in the general direction of the officers, who opened fire and fatally shot him. The two deputies involved later resigned from the force. Police alleged vehicular assault.
