Major, who was driving a stolen Honda Accord, reportedly fled from a deputy who tried to stop him for speeding along U.S. 17. The deputy eventually quit the chase after his emergency lights failed. A short time later, the Accord crashed into a utility pole and a tree on S.C. Highway 165, police said.
